Description of suitability of and ability: this is a walk that can be enjoyed by all.  The terrain is mainly on the flat, with a couple of gentle slopes.  For those using wheels, just be aware that the last 3rd of the walk is over the grassland known as Whitefield Moor, the grass is very short, and it is level’ish, but there are a couple dips.

Dog Walks: New Forest from Whitefield Moor via Ober Water Route:

Standing in Whitefield Moor Car Park with your back to the grassland expanse of Whitefield Moor, walk ahead on to the gravel path which is located towards the top of the car park.  This gravel path runs parallel to the Rhinefield Road.

Continue on the gravel path, it takes its way down a very gentle slope, and into a tree area, here you cross the footbridge over the river.

Once over the bridge follow the gravel path towards the car park, here it skirts the lower edge of the car park, and the path exits into the forest on the right side of the car park, and here you will pass a way-marker stating Ober Water Route.

Follow on the gravel path ahead, you will pass a footbridge off to the right, but for this route you do not turn here but continue straight ahead on the gravel path.

After a short while there is a barrier straight ahead, but at that point you follow the path left, you will pass a way-marker, follow ahead then the path bears right again and continues along another straight.

You will then come to a footbridge on your right, here you need to cross over the footbridge and follow the path into a more open area you will pass another way-marker on the right, continue on the path up the gentle incline.

A short distance before you reach the road ahead you will see another way-marker on your right next to a little bridge-type crossing over a drain leading you on to the open expanse of grassland on your right, so cross here and follow the grassland back to the car park as it located and at the far end of the grassland in Whitefield Moor Car Park.
